A few days on the American side

We headed down to Montana for a few days last week to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the western side of Montana is far nicer than the eastern side which we drove through last summer. We had intended to drive right through Glacier National Park on the famous Going to the Sun road. Unfortunately, it hasn't opened for the season yet and we had to take the road around the south end of the park. We landed in Kalispell to find that it is located in the beautiful Flathead Valley. See the slideshow below of the scenery.

Our trip went well and we will be making it again as Kalispell is closer to us than Calgary is. The soaring loonie also makes it appealing as there are plenty of deals to be had. One thing stuck out. Americans are far nicer than us Canadians give them credit for. Whatever impressions of their government or policy we may have, any American people I know or have dealt have been super friendly.

Deal of the Week

We were in Pincher Creek today (home of this weekend's 20th Annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering) to take the truck in to get some work done at the Ford dealership. To pass the time, we ended up at the tiny litle mall to find that the library was having a used book sale. I've been intending to do more reading and now I have some great books to spend some time with. Check out my haul for $4.50.The best part is that I have been intending to purchase the 4th book from the left for some time (The Prize by Daniel Yergin). I ended up getting it for a quarter.
