Thailand to date

We are nicely settled in Thailand now. After a few hot days in Bangkok, we travelled by cheapo airfare to Chiang Mai. Bangkok was actually pretty good, despite Melissa's recollection from her last visit here. We didn't venture too far from our guesthouse and spent our time hanging out at the markets and eating delicious Thai food. The people are very friendly and not really that obtrusive when trying to sell their wares. We did go visit a few of the sacred Buddhist sites (Temple of the Emerald Buddha and Temple of the Reclining Buddha) and the King's palatial grounds. Chiang Mai is quite a bit different. It is known as the cultural capital of the country. We've been here 2 days now with a few more to go. So far, I've gotten the jump on getting a couple of suits tailored and we spent today taking a Thai cooking class. It was good fun and should give us some confidence when trying the recipes at home. I'll try to update again in a week or so.
